VGO, or Vietnam Glory Obscured is a Real time strategy game placing emphasis on infantry, territory control and assault tactics as opposed to just spamming the tank button and hitting "go kill them". OverviewUnsurprisingly set in Vietnam, whichever side you play as (United states or North Vietnam) you must capture and secure villages placed in key locations around the map. Each village you capture must be fortified with a sufficient number of troops, and once it has, it will start providing the occupying player with a steady flow of funds (VND). Players are expected to take villages from their opponents while defending their village(s) at the same time. Players must keep villagers happy though or they will refuse to provide the player with funds. For example: if you spot an enemy village and decide the best way to deal with it is to call in a napalm run from 2 F105 Thunderchiefs, when you roll in to capture it don't expect the villagers to provide you with money. As such, units like Tanks, APCs, Aircraft and artillery must be used to support the infantry, and usually do not survive well on their own. While tanks have a hard time navigating through jungle, infantry can move through it with ease and become stealthed when not firing, this makes areas surrounded by jungle great for setting up ambushes. Medics can heal and also revive soldiers who have fallen in battle, once a player constructs a helipad they can build medevac hueys to provide medical support much quicker to troops. Requesting a medevac from a team mate in an online game Rewarded for being aggressiveThe more you push the offensive the more you will be rewarded. The more vehicles or structures you destroy, the more points you are awarded, which contributes to your special ability menu. Special abilities include recon planes, artillery pieces, Gunship support, and a whole range of airstrikes to unleash on your opponent. "Commando Vault" bomb dropped on an enemy base. Well thats the basics of what VGO is. I've been on the beta testing team helping out with occasional stuff like audio work since June 2007 and it's been a hell of a lot of fun. If anyone here wants a game I can give you full instructions on how to set it up and get it working. Hope you enjoyed this overly long post. I'll be happy to answer any questions about VGO in this thread.
